Why do Mormons Have to Advertise?
Church Matters July 6th, 2008This is a deep and philosophical question. If Jesus Christ and The Church of The Latter Day Saints (Mother Theresa, anyone?) is so great, why did they take a huge slot on Technorati, advertising their church?
Surely all they need is something good and chocolatey to bite into?
If a church is good, why does it need to advertise?
And why do it on Technorati?
We have no golden tablets. Ours are edible! And we attract new congregants daily without the need to place adverts. For every baking is to the glory of Her Chocolatey Mistress, yea, even the cakes with but a smidgen of chocolate within them.
Nor do we declare the eating of The Eccles Cake to be a sin, nor the Madeira Cake, nor the Apple Upside Down Cake.
Advertising has no place in the theology here. We are not an evangelical church. Simply bake a Chocolate Cake and you are already saved.

Well, you do have an advertising department (see http://www.chocolatecakechurch.org/2008/06/28/i-hate-life/), and it does look like you’ve got a some pretty tempting deals going on. I would say that was advertising.
I’m more of a pie person. Sorry.

Pie believers are a rogue strain of our faith. They are giving us a hard time - for we dislike pie. But they also remind us to remain tolerant in the light of global Chocolate Cake.

Not really advertising as much as giving people a way to get to know us without dealing with our pesky missionaries that have no problem eating all of you Chocolate Cake if offered even a single bite lol. Bet you all didn’t know we have a Church sponsored recipe book that contains nothing but Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Pie, Chocolate Fudge, Chocolate Brownies, etc.? So really, are we not all enjoying the same basic thing, just adding our own little spin to it all. =)
